This wasn't my first post, but oh well... I mean I wizened up and now I'm here, counts for something right? haha Well hi! I guess I'll lead the charge and start a new thread about myself. My name's eybecket, but you can call me beck or becks, or Bry if you'd like something more personal. I'm a twenty year old female from Colorado (currently residing and going to college in Nebraska though) and music's always been my entire life. I'm a music education major so I better at least like it, haha. I play clarinet and sax as well as sing, so I have that unique musician's perspective on things. Sorry if I talk a little too much about playing horn. There's this Jazz/Pop combo group I'm in right now--I play alto saxophone in it, our tenor player invited me in last year--and it's a total blast. We play Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, Blues Brothers... Commodores... Janis Joplin... I could go on pretty much forever. I'm always looking for new music to listen to, and I've been a fan of so many genres through the years--rock, heavy metal, hair/glam metal, punk, techno, edm, film scores, classical, ska, soul, funk, blues, jazz... the list goes on and on. I'm mostly obsessed with the last four right now, because of my little ensemble and just that they're so cool? I really don't know what else to talk about, so I guess I'll leave it there? This seems like a cool place, I really will try to stick around. I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys.

This was a sweet post, whether it was your first or not Welcome aboard, and I hope you enjoy yourself here! I would like to get into classical and rock music more. Every now and then I have time periods where I can't stop listening to Queen, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and the rest, but then I go right on back to old school R&B and Pop music. I used to love dubstep (is that another name for EDM) for years! I stopped listening because most of the remixes on YouTube all sounded the same, but the professionals like Skrillex are really good. (Sidenote: I did actually enjoy the "Speed Demon (NERO Remix)" on Bad 25! I might be the only person who liked it! LOL) I don't want to type your ear off, but I just want to say that I admire your talent with instruments! I have always wanted to learn how to play the piano, guitar, and drums, and my secret dream of dreams is to become a professional dancer! The catch is that I am extremely shy

Aww thanks! c: I listen to a lot of variety, but I also feel that I don't listen too extensively to much, either--I never get obsessed with artists. Just with songs. I'll listen to like one or a few over and over until I get sick of them, haha. Yeah, the classics will always be the best. I used to be more into dubstep than I am now, as well, but I agree that most of it sounds the same. Love Skrillex and Nero though! Nero's Welcome Reality album is so great. Recently I've been listening to more trance, progressive, future bass and house--gotta love EDM, it's like this huge lump genre with hundreds of artists, and each try to claim their own sub-genre Oliver Heldens (and in turn his side project Hi-LO) and/or KSHMR have to be my two favorite in the biz right now. I'll always type your ear off xD I totally understand being shy. I am too, you're not alone. It's been a huge step for me, going to college and getting involved in all these ensembles.

I've been listening to "Square Biz" on repeat for months LOL! I love Teena Marie, and Rick James was a true visionary. He is another genius I need to check into. What outlet did you use to listen to dubstep? I was getting to it through YouTube for the most part. I forgot to mention I am into "alternative R&B". People like Jessy Lanza, Kelela, inc. ("5 Days" is a masterpiece!) and many others. I need to make a thread on this soon. How about you? Are you into that kind of music? This is reminding me that at one point in time, I tried my hardest to get into K-Pop and J-Pop! It was middle school. I'm not ashamed! I can type folks ears off too if I feel really invested in the conversation. Music and history are my favorite subjects to talk about, so you've got a place to type some essays if you want!

Oh the bass line in Square Biz is so good!! Rick James is criminally underrated in my opinion. Not very many people realize that the backbeat for MC Hammer's 'U Can't Touch This' is taken from 'Super Freak'. So much music has roots in Motown!! I mainly used to use Pandora, that was a few years ago obviously. I bought a lot of Skrillex's singles on iTunes then, and I still listen to them when I'm in the mood for my EDM playlist on shuffle. Nowadays, I'm a Youtube and Spotify person. I really try to support artists, I hate that downloads and streaming services are such small change for them "Alternative R&B", hm I'll need to look into that. Listening to a little bit of Jessy Lanza now, and I'm interested. Haha for the most part I'm willing to try anything so yeah throw things at me if you've got them. I'm still into K-Pop!! It's totally a guilty pleasure. I listen to BIGBANG a lot and drool over the boys, mainly Seungri to be honest lol. My little sisters love EXO and BTS as well as some of the girl bands and other boy bands, so I've been exposed to them too. Sweet Sounds awesome.
